Privacy notice
A plain account of what information this personal website may receive, why I use it and the choices you have.
This notice applies to michaelockett.online and enquiries sent through it. MICHAELOCKETT LTD operates the site and is its data controller. Symbiometry is not the operator or data controller.

Who is responsible for your information
MICHAELOCKETT LTD, company number 17425471, is the data controller for personal information handled through this website. It is registered in England and Wales. Its registered office is 7 Birch Street, Windermere, England, LA23 1EG.
Michael Lockett is the contact point for privacy questions. You can email hello@michaelockett.online. I am based in Windermere, England.
What I collect
I may receive:
- your name, email address, organisation and anything you choose to include in an enquiry or later correspondence;
- information needed to discuss, scope or deliver work with you;
- correspondence and records of decisions connected with that work; and
- limited technical records created by the web host or security services, such as IP address, browser information, requested URL and timestamps.
The contact form is processed by Netlify Forms and delivered to me. Choosing a prepared email link opens your own email application instead and you decide what to send.
Why I use it and the lawful basis
- To answer enquiries and assess possible work. I rely on legitimate interests in running my independent professional practice or on taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
- To agree and deliver work. I use information where it is necessary to perform a contract or take requested steps before one.
- To keep the site secure and reliable. I rely on legitimate interests in protecting the website, correspondence and technical systems.
- To meet legal and financial duties. I use information where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
I do not use information from this site for automated decision-making or profiling.
Ask about Milo and local AI
Ask about Milo searches an index of information already published on this website. Opening the assistant or using its site-search mode does not send your question to me or to a third-party AI service.
The optional local AI only starts after you select Enable local AI. Your browser then downloads an open-weight model and the software needed to run it on your device. Your question and the generated answer remain in your browser rather than being sent to a commercial inference service.
The model files may be cached in your browser so you do not need to download them for every visit. You can remove them using the control in the assistant or by clearing this site's browser data. The services hosting the model and software will receive the ordinary technical information involved in a file download, such as your IP address and browser information.
Conversation history is held only in the current page and is cleared when you reload or leave it. The assistant does not make decisions about you and its answers may be wrong, so it keeps the published sources visible.
Analytics, advertising and marketing
I do not use website analytics, advertising trackers or behavioural profiling on this site. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to a mailing list. I will not sell your personal information.
Who may process the information
Information may be processed by providers needed to operate the website and correspondence, such as Netlify hosting and forms, security, email, file storage and professional advisers. They receive only the access needed for their role. If you choose to enable local AI, the providers hosting its model and software process the technical details needed to deliver those files.
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, I expect the provider to use a recognised transfer mechanism or other appropriate safeguard.
How long I keep it
I keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the enquiry, working relationship, security record or relevant legal and financial obligations. The period depends on the nature of the information and whether work proceeds. I then delete it or retain only what the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your information; restrict or object to its use; and receive certain information in a portable form.
You have the right to object where I rely on legitimate interests. Email hello@michaelockett.online to make a request. I may need to confirm your identity first.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. I would appreciate the opportunity to put the problem right first.
Changes to this notice
I will update this page if the site begins collecting information in a different way or the services supporting it materially change. The review date at the top shows when I last checked it.
